Meet Chris Garrison, dip.CBST-AGT, dip.PDT, ABCDT. A certified dog trainer with over a decade of experience in every aspect of Positive Reinforcement obedience training and behaviour modification. Highly qualified, well educated, and caring, meeting the needs of my human and canine clients is my top priority.
At Different Breed Pet Services, we understand the finer points of how behaviour works, so Positive Reinforcement strategies are our focus. This is particularly important when dealing with aggression and reactivity, because real behaviour change stems from changing the emotions driving the behaviour, not just suppressing it through intimidation and punishment.

Tired of locking your dog in a separate room when friends visit? Do you have to walk your dog at 4am because of how they react to seeing other dogs or people on the street? Walking on eggshells during feeding time or if your pet has a bone? Growly pup when you try to take back the kleenex they stole? We can help!
*Travel premium applied out of Timmins/Porcupine area for in-home sessions

No prong, no shock, no choke means exactly that - we don't use punitive methods to teach dogs. They're unnecessary. No organism 'needs' punishments to learn, and in many cases like aggression and reactivity, punishing the behaviour can end up making things worse. By carefully managing the learning environment, we set our subjects up in a way that mistakes are prevented, and the behaviour we want is more likely to occur. Behaviour like growling, lunging, and barking are our dog's way of communicating that they're uncomfortable in the situation, so while one could punish this out, they'd actually be taking away the dog's ability to communicate, often resulting in a dog that 'bites out of nowhere'. Also, punishment merely suppresses behaviour, it does nothing to help the dog feel better about the situation. Change the emotional reaction, change the behaviour. THAT is real behaviour modification.
If at any time you need support, simply call, text, or email with your concerns. Support often begins with a few quick, free tips to help point you in the necessary direction, though if a session is warranted for a more serious concern, additional charges may apply.
We love helping dogs and their humans! Schedule right here on our site for a meet and greet, or to make any pet services appointment. If you have a special request, send us a message, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
